Dave Chaplin, CEO
Since December, 2010, David has been CEO of SearchDex™, the boutique SEO firm specializing in high-end etailers. David engineered the buyout of SearchDex with a group of investors, targeting the acquisition for its reputation as a well-run, well-regarded technology provider.
Prior to SearchDex, David served as VP of Advanced Search Technologies, Kroll Ontrack from 2007 through 2009. This position followed Kroll Ontrack’s acquisition of Engenium Corporation, which David founded. Dave was responsible for integrating Engenium’s advanced search products throughout Kroll’s electronic discovery services business while continuing to grow outside sales of the Engenium product group. These efforts achieved all revenue targets for three years. Additionally, David was a sought-after speaker at conferences and educational seminars concerning the use and application of advanced AI tools in electronic evidence discovery.
Engenium was a Dallas based technology company David founded in 1998. Until 2006 David stewarded corporate growth and development, particularly focused on the creation of a conceptual search engine and related AI based solutions in information clustering and data mining. Clients in the electronic discovery and human resources software industry included Fios, Electronic Evidence Discovery , Kroll, Summation, Robert Half, Heidrick & Struggles, Korn Ferry, Vurv and Taleo.
In his role as CEO David grew Engenium from startup to recognized industry leader, earning multiple industry awards as one of the 100 most important companies in knowledge management and recognized for the development of trend setting products. David sold the company to Kroll Ontrack, the market leader in electronic discovery in November, 2006.
Previously David was a Senior Manager at KPMG, a big four accounting firm. In this role, which reported to the CIO, David was responsible for managing the development of knowledge management technologies. These included real time news distribution via email and groupware, search applications to build efficiencies in audit and tax practices and industry specific knowledge applications to ensure highest level of service delivery. David was responsible for the first real time distribution of client news within KPMG as well as the first firm wide use of search technology in support of audit and tax client services.
David earned a degree in Economics from Hartwick College, and currently resides in Dallas, Texas, with his family.
