Thom Adams, Founder & CTO

Thom Adams is founder and CTO of SearchDex™. Over the past decade, Thom has transitioned from personally designing and implementing the core software system to overseeing the expansion of the platform’s capabilities through research and development. Clients face evolving challenges both competitively and technologically, and Thom’s role is to assess the marketplace and the search industry in the light of these challenges to provide clients with systems that keep them in the lead.

Thom originally developed the indexable content repository model that remains the content-centric framework of the SearchDex service. Across dozens of clients including Nike, Best Buy, WilliamsSonoma and others over more than 10 years, the service has generated tens of millions of queries and hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue. As just a single example, the novel conception and implementation of Orbitz’s natural search strategies has become the pattern that other major travel sites now mimic.

Prior to founding SearchDex, Thom developed investment industry software, including a system to automatically handle cash management and placement of the billion-dollar-plus daily balances at Fidelity Investments. Additionally, the world’s largest educational endowment management fund hired Thom to overhaul their backend transactional and cash management system. Other projects in the manufacturing, telecom, and legal industries have provided him with a perspective which spans diverse operational venues.

Thom holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from University of Texas, and a Masters in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence Specialization, from Stanford University. When not in the office, Thom often returns to his roots in Montana to read math, philosophy, and history, where most of his friends there will vouch for his “legendary” margaritas.
